A Persian Wedding

At the classic Berkeley City Club

Persian Wedding Photography

Roxanna and Greg’s celebration was a sumptuous mix of Persian wedding tradition and California style. The Berkeley City Club is an architectural masterpiece and provided a classic and timeless setting for a Persian wedding ceremony on the outdoor terrace followed by cocktails in the library room and an evening reception in the ballroom. Our creative team were lucky to photograph with Roxanna and Greg over two days both for the welcome party and on the wedding day. Here are a collection of images from their story.

"Hi Drew. Greg and I went through all the photos earlier today and we just LOVE the story. Everything turned out so well. You did such a great job and you captured so many gorgeous and priceless moments from our Berkeley City Club wedding. THANK YOU!!"

"You and your team were so fun to work with and you did such a fabulous job with the photo story that I sent the gallery link to my sister. She’s getting married next year. And, after seeing the photos she is really excited to book you for her Persian wedding, too!"

"Drew! Thanks so much for sharing your beautiful photos from Roxanna and Greg’s Persian wedding. You have a unique talent for making our space look as amazing in photos as it feels in real life. We can’t wait to share the photo story on our website and social media."

–  Heather. Events Manager. Berkeley city club.

“Roxanna and Greg’s Persian wedding at the Berkeley City Club was an absolute pleasure to photograph. The setting and architecture were amazing and the celebration was next level. The Zoroastrian wedding ceremony on the terrace was intricate and deeply beautiful. My team and I love creating wedding photo stories that are timeless, genuine, and authentic.”

“Persian weddings and Iranian weddings are amazing celebrations with many of the traditions rooted in Zoroastrianism. During a Persian wedding ceremony (the Aghd) the bride and groom sit in front of an assorted sofreh (or table) full of an intricate spread of items that represent the shared journey of life and marriage for the couple. Some of the items you’ll find on the sofreh include a mirror (symbolizing eternity), nuts and eggs for fertility, and coins for wealth and prosperity.”

"At persian weddings, a bowl of honey is placed on the sofreh aghd signifying sweetness for the couple. After the couple has consented and they are officially married, it is customary for the groom to hold the bowl of honey as they each dip one finger and feed it to each other. This symbolizes the idea that the couple will nourish each other as they begin their shared life together."

“Our creative team specialize in Persian wedding photography. We love telling stories with photographs and we always aim to capture authentic and unscripted expressions of beauty, love, and connection. We are based in Oakland and San Francisco, California and are available to travel world-wide.”
